Construction equipment and more generally Off-Highway Vehicles have been transformed by the use of electronics. As the vehicles and equipment gets smarter there is often much more information available to the operators and also the owners. This information is not always easily available or presented in a useful format where and when it is needed.

For much equipment - including some of the most complex vehicles - the single largest cost is the large diesel engine that provides the power source. These engines can be mistreated and if not maintained when required can have significant consequences in down time and expense. CANtronik have developed a monitoring and alarm system using the CANvu display to provide early warning and also to store historical data such that any misuse can be identified early, recorded and a message triggered either locally or remotely.  See EM datasheet here.
